Project spotlight – recently completed master suite expansion/addition in Oak Hill.
This project expanded our client’s master bedroom and added a master bath, custom walk-in closet, study, screened porch, and outside dining area to the Colonial-style home. The master suite is a bright, airy space, where modern design mixes with rustic elements, such as barn wood and antique pieces.
In the bedroom, the star of the show is the custom tufted, clean-lined bed, upholstered in alabaster linen, juxtaposed against the barn wood wall. A mix of custom pillows and ready-made bedding, with a wonderfully soft vintage-washed linen duvet, create an inviting retreat. Custom draperies soften and complete the space, and French doors lead to a new deck with seating area, just steps away from the pool.

Above the bed is a treasured, framed antique shirt, made by our client’s grandmother.
In the master bath, an antique gilded mirror adds drama and history to an otherwise new-feeling space. The lucite vanity stool, upholstered in raspberry velvet, provides a punch of color and contemporary design. Feminine touches abound – the crystal chandelier, soft linen draperies, and beautiful bone and brass hardware all lend to the clean, peaceful feeling.
An antique beaded handbag, mounted on linen and preserved in an acrylic box, adds another feminine detail to the space. This is a wonderful way to preserve family heirlooms!
The study hosts many of the family’s books, as well as a collection of family treasures spanning generations. It serves as both an office for the homeowners and a place for the family to gather for games.
The custom bookcase provides a mix of open shelving above and closed storage below, creating a space that is functional, as well as beautiful.
An outdoor dining area was added near the pool, with plenty of space at the table for friends and family.
